How to Use the Mobile App
Moustra ships dedicated native iOS and Android apps for bench-side and animal-room work where a laptop is impractical. Use the app to scan cage cards, update animals on the fly, and watch your dashboard update from anywhere. Everything you do on mobile syncs in real time with the web app, so changes show up immediately on every device.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Install the Moustra app
Open the App Store on iOS or Google Play on Android and search for Moustra. Tap Install to download the official Moustra app to your phone or tablet.
Sign in with your lab credentials
Launch the app and tap Sign In. Enter the same email and password you use on the Moustra web app — your lab, role, and permissions follow you to mobile automatically.
Find a cage by browsing or scanning
On the Cages tab, scroll or search to find a cage by ID, strain, or label. To jump straight to a record, tap the scan icon and point your camera at the QR or barcode on the cage card.
Pro Tip
Scanning is by far the fastest path when you have hundreds of cages — point, focus, and you are on the cage record in under a second, no typing or filtering required.
Open the cage and update animals on the fly
Tap a cage to open it, then tap Add Animal to log a new occupant or tap an existing animal and choose End Animal to record death, transfer, or weaning. Changes save instantly and sync to the web app.
Switch between list view and grid view
In the Cages tab, tap the view toggle in the top bar to flip between list view (compact rows with key metadata) and grid view (cage-card thumbnails). Pick whichever matches how you scan a rack.
Check the dashboard for at-a-glance status
Tap the Dashboard tab to see live colony charts — animal counts, cage occupancy, upcoming weans, and recent activity. It is the same dashboard as the web, sized for a phone screen.
