    How to Disband a Mating

Disband a mating when a breeding pair or trio is finished producing or you need to separate the animals. Disbanding marks the mating as ended on a specific date, optionally records a reason, and stops new auto-litters from being created. The animals themselves stay in their cages and can be reused for future matings.

    Step-by-Step Instructions

    1

    Open the Mating page

Click Mating in the navigation menu to open the mating grid. This grid lists every active mating in your colony.

    2

    Find the mating to disband

Use the search bar or filters to narrow the grid to the mating you want to end. You can filter by male, female, strain, or date started to quickly locate the right pair or trio.

    3

    Open the mating detail page

Click the row of the mating to open its detail page. From here you can see the animals involved, linked litters, and all actions available for that mating.

    4

    Disband the mating

Click the Disband action, then enter the end date and an optional reason (for example, "finished producing" or "separated for retirement"). To disband several matings at once, select multiple rows on the mating grid and use the bulk Disband action instead.

    Pro Tip

Disbanding a mating does not euthanize or remove the animals — they stay in their cage and remain available for future matings.

    5

    Confirm and verify

Confirm the action to disband the mating. Back on the mating grid, switch the status filter to Disbanded to verify the mating now appears there with the end date you entered.
