How to Track Wean and Tail Sample Reminders
Track which litters need to be weaned and which need their genotyping tail or ear sample collected by watching the notification bell and calendar popover at the top of the page. Reminder dates come from each litter's **Wean Date** and **Tail Date** fields, which Moustra computes from the strain or lab defaults when the litter is created.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Open the notification bell
Click the bell icon at the top of the page to open the notification panel.
Read the wean reminder
Each Wean Reminder shows the litter and the date it's due to wean. If the litter has a tail sample scheduled, the same reminder also shows a "Biopsy due {date}" line, so you can collect the sample before pups leave the dam.
Pro Tip
Wean Reminder is a single notification — biopsy and wean info are merged into one row rather than firing two separate alerts.
Open the calendar popover
Click the calendar icon at the top of the page to see scheduled litter, mating, and protocol events for the coming weeks.
Find tail sample events
Tail sample dates appear as Litter Tail Sample events on the calendar. Click an event to jump straight to that litter's detail page.
Adjust a wrong date
Open the litter and edit its Tail Date or Wean Date in the litter form. The notification and calendar refresh automatically once the litter saves.
