    How to Use Cheese AI

Cheese AI is Moustra's built-in assistant for talking to your colony in plain English. You can ask questions like "How many breeding-age females are on protocol P-2024-001?" or "Which cages are due for weaning this week?" and Cheese AI queries your live data to answer. It can also walk new labs through onboarding tasks and suggest next steps.

    Step-by-Step Instructions

    1

    Open the Cheese AI panel

Click the Cheese AI button in the navigation to open the chat panel. The panel slides in from the side and stays available while you work in any part of Moustra.

    2

    Ask a colony question

Type a natural-language question into the Ask Cheese AI input, for example "How many breeding-age females do I have on protocol P-2024-001?" or "Which cages are due for weaning this week?" Press Enter to send.

    Pro Tip

Be specific about strain, protocol, or date range — vague questions get vague answers.

    3

    Refine your question

If the answer is not what you expected, send a follow-up in the same chat to narrow it down. Add filters like a strain name, protocol ID, or time window, or ask Cheese AI to show the underlying list so you can verify the data.

    4

    Get help with onboarding tasks

New labs can ask Cheese AI to suggest setup actions, such as "Help me set up my first protocol" or "What should I configure first?" Cheese AI will recommend next steps and link you to the relevant pages in Moustra.

    5

    Verify your data scope

Confirm Cheese AI is reading from the right place — it only sees data inside your lab membership and permission boundaries. It cannot read other labs' colonies, and it never sends your data outside your authorized scope.
