How to Mark a Tail Sample as Done
Mark an animal's genotyping tail or ear biopsy as completed once the sample has been collected. This clears the biopsy reminder for that animal so your dashboard only shows pending samples.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Open the animal
Click Animal in the navigation menu and open the row of the animal whose biopsy is done.
Open the actions menu
Click the Actions dropdown at the top of the animal detail page.
Click Mark Tail Sample Done
Pick Mark Tail Sample Done from the menu. The option is greyed out for animals already marked, with a tooltip showing the prior completion date.
Enter the completion date
Pick a Done At date — it defaults to today. Optionally add a Note to record handler initials, sample ID, or other context.
Pro Tip
Use the note for sample IDs or handler initials so you can cross-reference results when genotyping comes back.
Confirm
Click Mark Done to save. The animal's header shows a "Biopsied" status chip after saving.
