    How to End Animals

Mark one or more animals as no longer active — typically because they've died, been sacrificed, or transferred out. Ended animals stay in your records for lineage and reporting but disappear from active selection lists so they can't be paired or housed by accident.

    Step-by-Step Instructions

    1

    Open the Animal page

Click Animal in the navigation menu.

    Pro Tip

To end just one animal, you can also open its detail page and use **Actions → End Animal** (today's date) or **Actions → End Animal With Details** (opens the full End form).

    2

    Select the animals to end

Check the box next to each animal you want to end. Filters help if you're ending a whole cohort at once.

    3

    Open the End form

Click End (or End animal) in the toolbar.

    4

    Fill in the end details

Pick an End Date and an End Type (sacrifice, death, transfer, etc.). Optionally add an End Reason and a Comment for context.

    5

    Confirm

Click Confirm to end the selected animals. They're removed from active selection lists but remain in your records.

    Pro Tip

Toggle inactive-record filters in any grid to see ended animals again.
