How to Print Cage Cards
Cage cards are printable labels attached to cages showing animal tag numbers, strain, owner, and IACUC compliance information. Most institutions require physical cage cards for regulatory audits and daily animal care workflows.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Open the Cages page
Click Cage in the navigation menu to view your cage inventory.
Select cages to print
Check the boxes next to the cages you want to print. You can select one cage or multiple cages at once.
Click the Print button
Click the Print button (or Print Cage Cards option) in the toolbar or action menu.
Choose your template
Select the card size and layout: standard (4x6), half-page, or quarter-page. Preview shows animal tag, strain, owner, and IACUC protocol number.
Pro Tip
Most labs use 4x6 label stock for standard cages or half-page for shelf cages.
Preview and confirm
Review the preview to ensure all cages and information display correctly. Adjust any fields if needed.
Print or save as PDF
Click Print to send to your printer, or click Save as PDF to store a copy for later printing.
