How to Mark an Animal as Weaned

Record an individual animal as weaned without weaning the whole litter. Use this for off-cycle weans or when only some pups in a litter are ready — Moustra stamps the wean date and optionally moves the animal to a new cage in one step.

    Step-by-Step Instructions

    1

    Open the animal

Click Animal in the navigation menu and open the row of the animal you want to mark.

    2

    Open the actions menu

Click the Actions dropdown at the top of the animal detail page.

    3

    Click Mark Weaned

Pick Mark Weaned from the menu. The option is greyed out for animals already marked weaned, with a tooltip showing the existing wean date.

    4

    Enter the wean details

Pick a Wean Date — it defaults to today. Optionally pick a New Cage to move the animal into, and add a Note for context.

    Pro Tip

Leave **New Cage** blank if the animal stays put — only set it if you're transferring the animal as part of weaning.

    5

    Confirm

Click Mark Weaned to save. The animal's header shows a "Weaned" status chip and the wean reminder is cleared.
