Roles, Permissions & Data Ownership
Moustra lets you record your position in the lab and tracks who owns each animal and cage. This guide covers selecting your position, how ownership works, and how ownership drives notifications and coordination.
Choose your position
When setting up an account you can select your position within the lab. Available positions include Principal Investigator, Professor, Lab Manager, Postdoctoral Researcher, Graduate Student, Research Technician, and others.
See positions on profiles
Your position is displayed on your profile and helps lab members understand each other's roles.
Understand data ownership
Animals and cages have an owner — the lab member responsible for them. Ownership helps large labs coordinate who is responsible for which animals and cages.
Ownership drives notifications
Ownership affects notifications: you receive alerts when someone else modifies your items.
Review distribution on the dashboard
The dashboard's 'Data by Account' section shows how records are distributed across lab members.
