Data Grids: Filtering, Date Formats & Electronic IDs

Moustra's data grids include quick header filters, consistent date handling, and optional Electronic IDs for easy reference. This guide covers filtering rows with header filters, the date formats Moustra recognizes and displays, and enabling EIDs for tracking.

    1. Turn on header filters

Data grids support header filters — a filter row directly below the column headers. Toggle them on or off using the 'Open Filters' / 'Close Filters' button in the toolbar.

    2. Filter by column type

Header filters support operators based on column type: text columns support contains/equals, date columns support before/after/between, boolean columns support true/false, and select columns support dropdown selection.

    3. Understand date formats

During data import Moustra recognizes multiple formats including MM/DD/YYYY, YYYY-MM-DD, and DD/MM/YYYY. Dates are displayed in MM/DD/YYYY format in the UI, such as on printed cage labels.

    4. Use Electronic IDs (EIDs)

Animals, cages, matings, and litters all support an Electronic ID — a simple, auto-incrementing number scoped to your lab (e.g., 1, 2, 3). EIDs give you a human-friendly ID that's easier to reference than long system identifiers or physical tags.

    5. Enable EIDs in Lab Settings

Enable or disable EIDs in Lab Settings. When enabled, EID fields appear on the detail and edit pages for animals, cages, matings, and litters.
